end of school and graduation

we're already in to our second week of summer but we've been so busy that i never got to post about the end of school for the boys.  i feel like i blinked and the school year was over.  i'm always ready for summer to come but then i was a tad bit sad to see this school year end.  it means that carson will be going to a new school for 1st grade.  one that doesn't know him and his sweet personality.  i know that he'll have that school loving him as much as his old one did but i do not do well with change.  i'm so fearful that it won't be a good move for him but deep down i know that we have made the best choice for him for now.  and i have heard good things about his teacher which is always comforting.  my favorite part of the last few days was field day.  specifically the lap around the track event.  i happened to be chatting with another parent and also had shelby wiggling all around and wasn't paying complete attention to the track.  once i realized that the race had started and almost finished i started looking for carson.  i couldn't find him.  and then i heard the whole group of kids chanting, "go, carson, go! go, carson, go!"  he was finishing his lap with his two teachers running with him.  i mean, tears.  tears were coming down as i ran over to him.  he looks up and me and says, "my legs are so tired!"  but he did it.  he crossed the finish line and all the kids cheered.  how amazing.  i wanted to thank all those kids for boosting his confidence and i wanted to thank all their teachers for teaching them to cheer kids on instead of beat them down.  we could all learn things from kindergarteners.

go, carson, go!

the same day as field day was brooks' preschool graduation.  how can brooks be done with his preschool years?  it makes me sad to think he'll be in kindergarten in august.  no more baby brooks.  he is a big kid now.  he had such a great year at the church preschool by our house.  he's made some great friends and had two fabulous teachers.  here's hoping he's ready for the big school and a full day!

look at that face.  i could eat him up!

now bring on summer!  we've already made one trip to chicago for a family wedding, which are the best weddings.  the boys are also in the middle of their first VBS and they are loving it.  i'm ready for a week of nothing to do.
