thanksgiving in fort myers

we went down to the beach this year for thanksgiving for a little sunshine and some time at the tiki bar.  and after 10 hours on the way down with shelby i was ready for that tiki bar!  i kid.  she did great for a little bitty baby.  we only had to stop once to get her out and let her have a small fit.  for the most part she slept which was great.  the boys went down the day before with my parents and they did great too.  both were so excited to be going to the real beach they could hardly contain themselves.  carson watched movies and played the iPad the whole way and brooks asked questions.  typical of both.

i think the best part of the whole trip was the iron bowl.  if you didn't see it or haven't watched any tv in the last week auburn won with a miracle return of 109 yards.  it was amazing.  we were all going nuts in the condo, i'm sure all the old folks around us were wondering what was going on.

the boys had a list of things they wanted to do while we were there.  go see the "real" beach.  i'm not sure where the "real" part came from.  we've never been to a "fake" beach?  look for sea shells, go put putting, swim in the pool and eat at the tiki bar.  i think we accomplished it all and they had a blast.  we even got in a little photo shoot for christmas cards which i will be lucky to order before christmas.  let's just say i'm a little behind.  i still haven't ordered shelby's birth announcements.  shhhh, don't tell her that the third kid may not get the same treatment as the first.  i'm sure i'll get those out before she turns 18, maybe.  if she doesn't start sleeping more i won't have time to do it so really i see it as her fault.  i'm just kidding.  she's actually doing better and getting into more of a routine.  and she's also responding to us more and smiling at us which i absolutely love.  that sweet little smile on her sweet little face gets me every time.

but if i had to pick a favorite moment from our trip it would be before we ate thanksgiving dinner.  we were all getting ready to sit and we said that we were going to say grace.  brooks immediately said  "yes!  we have to all hold hands and sing amazing grace!"  to which we all did.  it brought tears to my eyes from laughing so hard and from the innocent heart my brooks has.  he may push me to my breaking point some days but he sure is sweet.
