soccer superstars
the boys started soccer this past weekend. i wasn't sure how it would go because the last time i signed them up it was a disaster. let's just say poor carson ran himself into the ground trying to do the "drills" these teenage girls had the 4-5 year olds trying to do while they showboated for the "audience" in the bleachers and books cried the whole time. it was not fun for any of us. this go-round was muuuuuuch better. this program is so well run and parents are the coaches. i was able to put carson and brooks on the same team and the two dads were so good with both the boys, but especially carson. he doesn't need too much help except for an extra hand here and there and these dads were more than willing.
i must admit i was most worried about brooks. he has this mama's boy mentality and asked me probably 20 times on the way to soccer if i was going to stay and cheer for him. so it worked out great that the boys could just be on each other's team. it was entertaining to say the least. they boys spent most of the half hour of "practice" hugging each other. as a mom, it brought a tear to my eye to see them loving each other, but as a competitor i wanted to yell, "stop hugging each other and kick the ball!" but i refrained. i know the hugging won't last forever and it sure was cute. the second half of the hour they play little games against another team and that was even more entertaining. carson basically ran around but at least it was in the general direction of the ball. brooks either stood in one spot or was twirling around. megan, andrew and i were sure that he was going to break out in a song and dance at any given moment. glee style. no lie. it was so hard for me to try and take video because i was laughing so hard the phone was shaking in my hand.
the most important part was that they had fun. they were smiling the whole time and they want to go back. a success in my books.

when our #47 gets to the bottom left of the screen you can see him do a little twirl-move. i'm not sure he knew what he was supposed to be doing but he sure had fun and he sure is cute. in case you can't see him, he's the one who looks like his jersey is a dress. it's a bit big on him. you can also see carson sitting at the bottom watching his brother.
one guess which one is brooks...
yep, the one standing still is him.
carson, getting the game started
