mdw 2011

we had a fantastic memorial day weekend, as usual. it's always my favorite weekend because it means the start of the summer which is my favorite time of the year. this year both boys were able to do so much, it's so fun seeing them running all over the place. carson's favorite is swimming all by himself (with swim muscles on) and jumping off the steps into the water. brooks has found his love of all things fast. this includes but is not limited to ;) the mule, boat, being spun around in circles in the pool (not a fun activity for me, it makes me very dizzy) and simply running around nonstop until the wee hours of the night.

here are some pictures of the many things we did this weekend...

a mule ride was a must for brooks first thing in the morning. if it were up to him he would have spent every waking moment on the mule. and when we told him our mule was "sleeping" he asked to go see chris's mule, our neighbor at the lake. little stinker figured that if ours is "sleeping" then maybe chris's would be awake. he now talks about the mule even in his sleep. and to think, just a few months ago he was terrified of it!

boat rides were a must this weekend. we even got in a few cocktail cruises :)
check out the sheer determination on b's face. he was driving the boat, no matter what.

must. steer. boat.

and then there is carson who falls asleep just about every time we went on the boat. he's so sweet. this was about 5 minutes before he went lights out.

pool time

b by the pool. he wasn't too in love with swimming, he'll get there. right now he is more concerned with mowing the ground around the pool. the swimmies are just for show.
carson loved jumping in!

b wanted to give jumping in try after watching carson.

and most importantly, memorial day always reminds me of when andrew proposed. we were down on the dock and i had no clue what was about to happen. it was one of the best days of my life and started this whole journey we have been on. and through it all we are always together. the good and the bad. but let's hope for more good. happy start of the summer to all of you!
