surgery-update at home now

just to let all my blog friends that we are home (actually, we have been for about 3 hours now). carson did great, he was such a trooper and charmed the pants off of everyone at the hospital. he got a shake and some fries on the way home and was so glad to see brooks when we came in the door. he was up and walking around like nothing happened all evening. i was having to tell him to take it down a notch, he just had surgery! thanks for all the prayers and positive thoughts!!! we couldn't have done it without all of you! i am having an adult beverage to calm my nerves then going to bed, it's been a long day :)

sweet sleepy guy...still not wanting to wake up.

2:53 pm-
they brought carson back to the room about 30 minutes ago. doctor said he did great. he had a fairly large hernia on the left side but nothing on the right, which surprised her.

the nurse who took care of him in recovery said he never woke up, even when she tried to move him around a bit. that's our carson...once he's asleep there is no waking him up. it's kind of like bob in the movie what about bob. you can call his name, jump on the bed, turn on the tv but until carson is ready he won't wake up! so here we still sit 40 minutes later. at least he is back in his room with us and i can watch him. thanks for all the calls/texts/emails/prayers/thoughts today. they have made us feel so loved!

they just wheeled carson back. he was good and loopy and didn't mind at all that we weren't going with him. it never gets easy watching strangers wheel your baby away. the surgery should only last an hour or so. i will try and post once he is out and recovering.

it was really cute when we got here. they were getting his vitals and when the nurse said he was done carson said, "i did it, and now i'm ready to go home." if only it were that easy!

I'm so glad to hear that everything went well. I'm anxious about Matthew's same surgery in two weeks, so hearing that it wasn't bad on Carson makes me feel a bit better. Matthew is only 8 months old, so at least we can contain him afterwards! Now I'm wondering if I want the surgeon to go ahead and check the other side. He said he wouldn't, but Carson's surgery has me wondering...just in case something is there and the peace of mind that comes with it.

Hope you have a great night's rest and Carson feels great tomorrow!
