carson's surgery

we had carson's surgery consult on wednesday of last week. all went well, the surgeon is super nice and really good with carson. even though i had been preparing him for weeks now for this appointment he still protested when she wanted to see the area where the hernia is. it's not in the most convenient of spots (not that any spot would be better, i guess) and carson is so picky about that area being touched. aren't we all? anyway, the doctor let him stand so that she could look at it and after he calmed down she asked if he was ok and he replied, "yes, i feel better now" while still chocking back tears. she got a kick out of that and had a nice little conversation with him and watched for a few minutes then turned to me and andrew and said, "you know he is very smart?" now, i don't want to brag but that is not the first time someone in the medical field has told us that. i'm not sure what it is they see him doing (or if they just tell all their patients parents that) but it seems to be the general consensus. when you start off like carson did and have the brain bleeds that he did you don't know what will happen and to hear someone who has never met him and has only observed him for a few minutes tell us that, well, it's just a nice thing to hear.

so, after her assessment she decided that a quick surgery was in order. she will check both sides of his little boy area to make sure there are no other hernias that may show up later. he should be able to come home the same day and be back to his old self in no time at all. the surgery is scheduled for this tuesday afternoon. i will try to post when they take him back and when we hear an update and then when we're back home. if you happen to be sitting around on tuesday with nothing to do send up a few good thoughts and prayers for us, thanks!

and so as not to forget our other little guy here is a new trick he has mastered! just what you want to see your child doing. he now thinks it's funny because i told him it is yucky. so i guess yucky=funny. boys.

I will pray for him on Tuesday. Our Baby Matthew's surgery is scheduled for April 5th. Hope it goes well! By chance, are you having it done at the Sattelite Blvd outpatient surgery center? That is where Matthew's will be and if so, I would love to know your opinion of it. Good luck! Update us when you can.
