stranded!

we have been stranded in our house for four days. the first day wasn't so bad, the snow was really pretty and fluffy. we went outside and jumped around in it for awhile then came in and enjoyed just hanging out. the second day, the snow turned to snow with a layer of ice on top. not so much fun to jump around in but carson and i attempted sledding (remember, andrew is still out of town at this point trying to get home, so mom was in charge of all snow activities. which might i add are not my favorite.) down our neighbors steep driveway. he was really excited at first but then realized how fast you go and wanted no part of it. he opted for sledding down on his bottom, controlling his speed. by the time we got home he was soaked to the bone, which if you know carson, then you know there isn't much between his skin and bone! the poor thing was purple and frozen.

day three was today and i was getting pretty antsy. andrew finally made it home this afternoon and as soon as he stepped in the door my mom and i raced out just to drive around and see the outside world (and the mall) for a few minutes. it felt so good.

day four will be tomorrow. school is cancelled, yet again. the roads are just too icy for the buses to try and navigate. this is the longest that i can ever remember we have been shut down. it was nice for a day or two, but i am ready for our normal routine. by today i gave up on activities for the boys and just gave them electronics. it seemed to work.

carson with the ipad. the kid can work it better than anyone in the house. best $ we ever spent. it also helped potty train him. he is now wearing just big boy underwear! now we just have to break him of the habit of watching the ipad while he potty's. i'm sure they don't know what he is talking about at school when he says he needs the ipad to go pee pee :)
don't bother me with pictures, mom. i am busy watching mickey. and yes, i am still wearing my jammies from the day before. why bother with a change of clothes, we haven't left the house in 72 hours!
i broke down and gave b the ipod. it does just about the same stuff as the ipad but already has a crack in it so i'm not worried about him breaking it. i'm not ready to hand the ipad over to this guy, who knows where it would end up.
i can watch mickey too! just like my big brother.

daddy is finally home. after a delayed flight from arizona to detroit, a missed connecting flight to atlanta, waiting an extra hour in the airport for my sister, driving on the icy road to our friends house near the airport (thank you kc and renata decker!!!! you guys are lifesavers!), a trip back to the airport to pick up a car, a trip to andrew's parents house to pick up his car, and a very slow trip home...he walked in around 2 pm. we were so glad to see him walk in the door! tiger head and all :)
