the longest day in a long time
i am not lying about any of the things you will read on this post. this is how our day went yesterday:
2 am-i get woken up by bo, she has to go pee. this usually happens on the nights that neither of the boys gets up. i guess she figures i like waking up in the middle of the night. thanks bo.
4 am-i am again woken up by brooks this time. he was screaming. i go in and get him calmed down.
4:45 am-brooks again, this time really screaming. i hold him, rock him, sing to him (probably making it worse) but nothing is working. finally i took him down stairs to play. nope. all he does is squirm on my lap. he doesn't want to be held, doesn't want to be put down, he doesn't even know what he wants. this constant screaming goes on till 7:15ish. all the while, carson is still asleep in his bed.
7:15-andrew finally gets him to half fall asleep by pacing back and forth with him in our room. i got to jump in the shower for 2.2 seconds and rinse off. i was supposed to go to carson's school for a fall festival that day and could not show up the way i currently looked.
7:30-brooks wakes up from passing out and begins screaming again. at this point andrew and i are both concerned about his heart and lung (if you don't remember or know, 2 days after brooks came home from surgery his right lung collapsed. this screaming was very reminiscent of that day when i had to call 911 to the house). poor little guy would wake up, scream non stop and then pass out. i, of course, had been checking for signs of respiratory distress and congestive heart failure. not many moms get the privilege of even know how to do that, but this one does! fortunately he had none of the signs to look for so that was a huge relief but we still did not know what the heck was wrong. he could barely keep his eyes open and was just pitiful. by this time i had called my dad, probably scaring him to death, to see if he could come and take carson to school. i didn't want him missing another day and his fall festival.
8-dad gets here, brooks is still fighting sleep and looking more and more miserable. carson is still asleep.
8:40-dad leaves with carson who is barely awake himself. i'm not even sure he knew where he was going. i called the doctors office and they said i should bring brooks in at 10. that was and hour and a half away! but when i got off the phone i saw that poor little b had passed out, bottom in the air, on the couch. phew! i quickly got dressed and packed our diaper bag.
10-doctor's appointment shows that brooks has a double ear infection. thank goodness! both the doctor and myself were relieved to find out it was something "normal" babies get. you have no idea how scared i was that she was going to have to send us to the hospital. i'm not sure we will even be able to live worry free with this little guy. the doc called in some Rxs that would take care of the ears in no time. from the doctor's office i went to carson's school and my dad took brooks home. i had the fall festival from 10:50-11:20, it was so cute to see carson with all his classmates and he had a blast. he was not thrilled when i walked him back to his class and had to leave though. he quit crying right away, but man it was hard to leave him! now i had to rush to the pharmacy, which by the way i love our pharmacist. he is the best! anyway, run to the pharm. get home, give brooks his medicine, then leave to go get carson from school. it all seems easy enough except as i was trying to leave the publix parking lot some lunatic redneck was cussing and screaming at two sweet elderly people who looked like they didn't know what was going on. now, i know that i am probably not some one's first choice to help defend, but they don't know the mouth that i have on me ;) to say the least the redneck started yelling and cussing at me while i just stood and laughed at him. i mean really? not on this day, buddy. i calmly told him to leave the poor people alone, get his crazy a$$ in the car, and go home before i call the police. ugh! some people?!
i finally got home, gave brooks his medicine and he almost instantly felt better. my dad offered to pick up carson for me so while he was gone i thought i would give brooks a bath. that seemed to make him happy, so happy he decided to poop in the tub. and that was just the icing on the top of my day. a bath tub full of poop to clean up. by the time andrew made it home from work i was done. he took over while i got a glass of wine, took my own bath and went to bed. what a day! sorry for the lengthy post and no pictures. i just thought i should share my day with everyone.
