2010
wow. can you believe it is already 2010. it seems so futuristic to be typing that number. it feels like yesterday that i was jamming to 1999 by prince and thinking 1999 is sooooo far away. i'm going to be sooooo old when it gets to be that year. and now, it's 2010. i always like to think what is to come in the new year. what will be different by the time it's 2011?
i gotta say, 2009 was not my friend. it did bring me my beautiful little boy, brooks, but besides that it was quite the pain in my side. starting in december 2008 (it must have been a prelude for 2009) i had a pretty rough pregnancy filled with trips to the hospital, sticking myself with a needle every 5 days, lots and lots of early contractions but it did end with a pretty amazing result.
as if my first born hasn't endured enough we had to do this to him in 2009
and also inject his skinny little legs with botox of all things, but i guess if we hadn't he wouldn't be doing this (there was going to be a video of big man walking on his own but have you ever tried to get a 2 1/2 year old to do what you want on video? impossible, and i wanted to post this before 2011! just know that without these shots he would not be standing, bending, or walking on his own. yay for modern medicine!)
my sweet little newborn was not being so sweet around july 2009
and out of fear and frustration i finally took him to the hospital. thank goodness we did that. what we thought was a bad case of reflux turned out to be a congenital heart defect that had resulted in his heart barely functioning by the time we figured it out. it was a very, very scary time.
but, had that not happened we wouldn't be so grateful for this in 2009
right around labor day, just as we were celebrating the little man's miraculous recovery from open heart surgery and a collapsed lung, andrew lost his job. really. by this point in 2009 i was about ready to call it quits. but no, we pulled together even tighter and realized that it was for the best, maybe not the best timing but when would it have ever been?
going through all the pictures for 2009 i realized there is a lot to be thankful for. i couldn't upload all of the pictures, that would have taken forever and this post is already cutting in to precious time that i could be spending playing with carson and his tools. so, i put together a collage of all the good things of 2009 and realized there was more than i thought there was. i guess when bad things happen in your life it's easy to forget the good things, so here are a few of them. i'm sure you have seen all of these at one time or another on the blog.
so, peace out 2009. i can't say you were the best year of my life but i guess i can say you made me realize just what is important and the things i should be grateful for. hello 2010. can you cut me and my sweet little family some slack? that'd be great.
