Surgery Update

We just spoke to Brooks' surgeon.  Surgery went as well as it could have.  He was very confident in the reconstruction.  Phew!  Right now they are taking him back to CICU (cardiac intensive care unit) and we can go see him in about an hour.  The doctor was able to close up his chest (it was possible he would have to leave him open) and as of right now he does not need the ECMO which is a type of machine that would pump his blood for him.  That is very positive.  That means his heart is pumping on its own.  We are still not out of the woods yet.  The next 12-24 hours are very critical.  All of your prayers have gotten us this far, PLEASE continue to PRAY for him and for his heart to heal successfully.

A little clear up from earlier, when I said we "dropped him off" for surgery I meant that we walked with his little be from the CICU...we were not able to take him home last night.  He has been on a vent since we left Scottish Rite to do the breathing for him.  That will not be weened for a few days to give his heart a rest...

Again, thank you so much for all the prayers and keep them coming full force!

I'm so glad to hear that the surgery went well. There are so many people lifting your family up in prayer right now. Your boys are amazing and you and Andrew are fabulous parents!
