We Are A-OK!

Phew!!!!! That is the sound (kind of) that I made when Kelley told me Carson's CT ( I thought it was an MRI, but is was a CT scan) looked perfect! It was a long day and I'm sure I could write tons but I will give the abbreviated version. We got there early, registered, and were seen right away by the radiology nurse. Kelley didn't even get a chance to walk in the doors before his scan was done. They did not have to sedate him!!!! He did such a good job. It is just so sad to see my tiny little guy on this huge machine all strapped down with a look of fear on his face. The nurse then told me she would put us in a private room so Dr. Marshall could go over the results. Well right there my stomach dropped. Private rooms are never any good, at least not in our case! Anyway, I heard Kelley walk in and then about 1 minute later she came in with a big smile and I knew it was all good. From the hospital we walked over to Carson's neurosurgeons office. He saw us right away and confirmed what Kelley had told us, Carson's scan looks great. His ventricles have gotten even smaller (due to the shunt functioning correctly) which may have caused the lull in circumference. His brain is filling in nicely and the sutures (cracks in your skull) are still open, narrow, but open!! Then he did a once over on Carson and commented on how great he looks and how is muscle tone looks wonderful. I could have done back flips at this point! All in all it was a wonderful day. Thank you SO much for all of your prayers. They have been answered. I sincerely hope I won't have to ask for such specific prayers for us again.

Now that all of this is over with I can focus on our upcoming trip to Chicago! We leave a week from today and we are so excited. My mom's family all lives there and they can not wait to see Carson. Most of them have not seen him since he was in the hospital/just released so I am sure they will be very impressed with where he is now. We are having a joint birthday party for Carson and a few other great grandkids in the fam. I was so nervous that we would be in surgery after today's CT but now I can really look forward to the trip. I'm sure there will be many pictures to follow our trip because the famed "cousin Lins" will be there for another photo shoot!! Now all I have to do is pick out his outfits!!! Thanks again for all the prayers, positive thoughts, and well wishes for today!!!! What would we do with out all of you out there!

~Delaney--I am SO sorry we missed you!! I can't believe it was just minutes!

I had talked to Eileen and already knew the good news, so didn't rush to check the blog on Wednesday. I think I felt the collective sighs of relief, however, in San Diego. It was a bit windy that day!

How wonderful that Carson will be able to be around several children, and even better some of them will be counsins. Have fun!
