Doctor's Visits

We had two good visits this week to the eye doctor and the new PT we will be seeing. As usual I go in very nervous but left both appointments very reassured. The eye doctor confirmed our regular eye doctor's diagnosis of a dragged retina. If you look at some of the pictures of Carson that are taken straight on you'll see his right eye turns out a bit. That is because there is some scar tissue from his ROP and it has caused his retina to be dragged over. His eye is compensating for the retina not being in the center of the eye and that is why it looks like it turns. He didn't notice any signs of a "lazy" eye and said his eyes looked pretty good. It was funny because he would shine a light in Carson's eye to look at it and for some reason it would make Carson giggle. Each time he did it Carson giggled a little more. So cute!

We also went to a physical therapist on Thursday and I really liked her. She was so sweet with Carson and was really pleased with how good he looks. Something we already knew! He definitely has some work to do but she seems to think it is something that can be done. He was so good and did all the things she wanted him to do. We are working on strengthening his "core" muscles. Maybe I should take him to a yoga class! That's about it from here. Just getting ready for the big first birthday!

Lauren,

I had lunch with Eileen today and she is a friend of many years since Cameron and my son Danny were in elementary school at Holy Innocents together. She shared pictures today as well as your blog address and I wanted to add my prayers to so many others. Eileen says such incredibly nice things about you.

Why not break all the rules & feed him away from the table. Use cookie cutters to make creative shapes from cheese, turkey breast, press avocado into shapes of animal characters he (Or Andrew ??!!) likes, JuicePlus has gummy bears to chew that have 12 - 13 fresh fruits & vegetables to give him his nourishment. Tint fruit juices & milk crazy colors & drop a healthy treat in the cup so when he drinks the liquid,he can eat the treat. Make popsicles from white grape juice w/little pieces of banana or peach in them. Make Hide & Seek games for him to"Find"
his Lunch. If he looses interest, eat one yourself, act like its DELICIous & then put them away. Don't act anxious about food - it sends the wrong message. Food is always FUN. Good Luck & how precious & dear this blog is to me. Your enthusiasm, ability to make each "challenge" a Graphic Opportunity (like the helmet).show your creativity & deep & abiding love for Carson and Andrew.
