OT Visit

We just had an OT come out to evaluate Carson. It went pretty good. Remember, I am a glass half empty person! He is doing some things he should be but also not doing some things so of course I worry. We need to work on him not laying on the left side of his head. He started doing this when the shunt was put in and now he favors that side. Poor little guy, every time you try to put him on his right side he flips it to the left immediately. We'll probably have a physical therapist come out as well to work with him on that. He also needs to work on grasping things because he wants to, not because I put them in his hands. The most important thing is for him to be on his tummy and moving his head. When we put him there he just starts sucking his fingers and goes to sleep!

That's all for now, we have to get ready for our visit from Al, Steve and Cousin Tyler!

At this point, he looks healthy and happy. He has been through some tough times, and if he takes longer to do some of the things he needs, then so be it. He'll get there. It's good to get advice, evaluations, and strategies, but don't stress about it. He is adorable in all but the Gator Hater posts! Lisa
I know how you feel Lauren. Sarah is in OT and Speech Therapy too and we worry about her and when she will catch up to her peers. But she is making progress and I know Carson will too. The best thing right now for him is to get the help you have already set up for him. So you are doing all you can right now. You and Andrew are great parents, and it shows! Keep up the updates, I love reading about Carson! Joelle

When Dash was Carson's size, if we put him on his tummy, all he'd do was scream! Nothing but cry, cry, cry! We thought he'd never learn to crawl.
And one of my favorite stories about Randy is that he didn't really talk until he was two, and the doctor was starting to think that maybe he had mental retardation or something.
Carson has done so many amazing things so far, I know he'll come out on top. He's got cheering sections for him all around the globe.
I love his little "Daughters" shirt. It's adorable!!
Love to you from up North,
Rachel, James and Dash
