Together Again

Carson returned from Scottish Rite yesterday afternoon without a hitch! He is now back with his brother and would you believe it, Cooper started doing better yesterday. Maybe his missed his brother? Whatever it was, we'll take it. Cooper is now off of his one blood pressure meds and is being weened off the second. He is peeing like a mad man trying to look as skinny as Carson. His wonderful nurse yesterday, Melinda, figured out he does not like to sit in a wet diaper. All of the sudden his blood pressure went up and his oxygen levels went down all because he was wet!

Carson is staying in an isolation room for now until they check to make sure he does not have any "bugs" since he came from an outside hospital. He is just as feisty as he was the other day. It's really funny to sit and see these tiny legs flailing in the air. His nurse last night gave him some pain medicine so he would lay still and sleep. I told Andrew that I can envision Carson in the pool, arms and legs going a hundred miles an hour but going nowhere and Cooper will just be laying around, relaxing. I can hardly wait for days like that.

For those of you too far away to see this saga unfold in person, you would be so amazed by the new Hess parents and the Smith and Hess grandparents. All of them provide these miracle boys with so much love and support. I know they don't feel strong day by day but as someone who sees parents in crisis on a daily basis, this family is special! Thanks for letting me be a part of Carson's one and only trip to Scottish Rite.

Love, Kelley, the cousin doctor, twice removed, by marriage etc. etc. You are in our prayers!!

I'm so happy to read your update. I'm continuing to pray for y'all. Your description of Carson in the pool made me laugh. I used to see ALOT of that....present company (and younger sister) excluded of course. :) Keep up the good work!!!

Glad to hear the boys are together again! Kudos to the nurse who figured it out about Cooper's diapers! It's so hard to figure out what they want and what is wrong--James is always saying "English, Dash! Just speak English and we'll give you what you want!" Hasn't worked yet. It's all part of the joys of getting to know this little person you brought into the world. :-)

Love to all!
Rachel, James and Dash

Dear Carson and Cooper,

You could have told them about that Twin Communication stuff, right?! Glad you are back together! Carson, keep those arm and leg "exercises" going and tell Cooper not to be such a couch potato (crib potato?)!

Sending lots of love,
Aunt Lisa

And who likes a wet diaper, anyway?

Kelley, you got me thinking about kinship relationships. You and the twins are second cousins (Gary and Greg are first cousins, Dave and Lauren are second cousins), once removed (one generation apart), by marriage (that would be Dave, remember him?)!

All the way down in kiwiland, we are grateful that you are up there to lend support, provide expert advice, and keep an eye on things!

Best,
Jeff
