More New on Carson

I just got back from the hospital and have been updated more on Carson's trip. He will leave tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11:00 am by ambulance from Gwinnett Medical to Scottish Rite. Wednesday is his transport day. They will admit him and then let him rest from the stress of the move on Wednesday. He will not have the procedure until Thursday. Hopefully, one of his regular nurses, Lisa, will ride with him over there. Cousin Kelly Marshall has been a huge help in keeping us informed of the procedure and the hospital as she is a very important doctor over there. We are lucky! Carson has a star next to his name, he is already popular.

We also found out today that once Cooper is stable, he too will go over to Scottish Rite for the same procedure. I guess this is what you get with twins. As for now, Cooper is doing better. Dr. Leigh looked at him today and said he was looking better than he did yesterday.

I will try to update and let everyone know how Carson's surgery goes. Again, keep us all in your thoughts and prayers over the next few days. Below are some new pictures we have of the boys. The ones of Cooper were taken the day before he got sick.

This is Cooper without all of the swelling...

We have continued to keep you guys in our prayers! You two are truly amazing. The boys are too cute and it is crazy how much they look like one another. Please let me know if there is anything at all that I can do to help out.

Love,
Kristen McCord
Andrew and Lauren,

As you may already know, I work at Scottish Rite. Please let me know if I can help you out in any way. I am frequently in and out of the NICU, especially on the weekends.

We have exceptional neonatologists and I would trust any of them with my own children.

Good luck.

Lauren and Andrew,

Every day you amaze me with your strength. You have endured more in 3 weeks than most of us deal with in a lifetime. You and the boys will continue to be in our prayers. Scottish Rite is a fabulous hospital. I know the boys are in good hands.

We'll continue to pray for you all. The boys are adorable.
They are quite a pair of fighters.

Lauren,

I have been thinking about you and Andrew so much today. At 11, I said a prayer for Carson and especially for you guys. I remember all too well the emptiness that I felt the day the air ambulance took Madeline from Pittsburgh to Minneapolis. I felt like someone had ripped out my heart. After they left and I was gathering her stuff, I just kept looking at her "place" in the NICU. It was empty and I was so sad. I didn't think I could feel any more out of control of the situation but I was wrong. You guys are holding up so well...When all of this is over you will be amazed at how your respect, admiration and love for each other has grown. Even now, when I'm having a weak moment I look at Dustin, the twins and Madeline and how we've circled the wagons this year and I feel 10 feet tall and bullet proof.

I'm sorry that the boys have to go for the shunt. I will pray that it's temporary. I must tell you though that one of my good friends sons has a shunt and you would NEVER know it. He is one of the most rambunctious, funny, and NORMAL little guys I know. It doesn't slow him down one bit.

By the way, the emotions you are experiencing are completely normal. A good friend of mine who has been through alot with her son told me that they will always remain there under the surface but it gets easier to cope with them as time passes. You are right....None of this is fair. I always felt so guilty for feeling like I was getting shafted b/c I know that God is good...and he has a plan. BUT the situation is what it is.....STINKY!!!

I'm sorry you are having to go through it all. I'm praying like crazy for all of you. Your boys are beautiful. I can't imagine how wonderful it feels for them to get snuggly on their Mommy's chest. It's where they belong....

Love,

Caroline
Lauren and Andrew,
William and I are constantly praying for your angels. The pictures of them are amazing. They make me smile....

Dear Carson,

Well, it's Thursday in NZ, so it's Wednesday in Georgia, which means that you are taking your first ride outside today... I hope all goes well with your procedure. We are sending our very best thoughts to you and Cooper!

Love,
Aunt Lisa

A picture really is worth (at least) a thousand words. I so love the one of Carson playing with his tubes. When he is older I think those hands will caress the silk edge of a blanket. Your words describe how tender and vulnerable both of them are right now, and the photos show little personalities developing. We also enjoyed seeing the one of Cooper when he was not so swollen. I'm sure most of us viewing this blog just want to hold both of them ourselves!
We will be anxious to hear about progress tomorrow. I am guessing that Carson is already at the Scottish Rite as I write this. How wonderful that you have so many contacts there already; that must help all of you feel better about tomorrow. with love and hope, and many prayers, Aunt Suzanne
Lauren and Andrew,
We have been continuing to pray for Carson and Cooper ever since they were born. Steve and Debbie has been giving us updates when we ask about your family. I guess they got tired of us asking and finally sent us your blog. Your boys are so precious and so cute! We will continue to pray for their recovery and that they lead healthy and normal lives.
We just wanted you to know we were thinking of you everyday and praying for Carson and Cooper. We can not even imagine what you are going through, but may God be with you and continue to send his angels to protect and look after your sons.
Please let us know if we can do anything for you. We can doggie sit if that helps!

Love,
The Woody Family
