Carson Without His Mask

Today we got a great surprise, Carson is off his breathing machine and on a high flow nasal canula. This way we get to see his whole face! It's like seeing a whole new baby. They didn't tell us they had done it so that we could be surprised. He looks so sweet. Below are some pictures we took and we will have more to come.

Cooper is doing good. He was way down on his blood pressure meds and not requiring much oxygen on his breathing machine which is pretty good because his right lung is still collapsed. That is pretty strong, I would say. Dr. Leigh said he was surprised he hadn't gone back on the vent, he doesn't know how stubborn and determined these two are (they get that from their dad!). They are still planning to send Cooper out on Monday to Scottish Rite. He will have his VAD done and then have to have an exploratory surgery in his intestines to find the obstruction. The dye they were trying to use yesterday didn't pass through and he was throwing it up so they are pretty sure that is the problem. I hope they can find the problem, fix it and then be able to send him back to Gwinnett with his brother. That way we can start feeding him again and get him looking as good as Carson.
