Carson Goes to Scottish Rite

We heard yesterday that they are sending our Carson to Scottish Rite to put a VAD tap in his head. The doctors feel like the fluid is building and he is not reabsorbing it on his own. This is a temporary shunt for now, he is too little for the permanent one. He may not ever need the permanent one but that we won't know for a while. The plan is for him to leave on Wednesday and (fingers crossed) return Friday if he is stable. Scottish Rite is an excellent hospital with excellent doctors and nurses so we are not worried about the care he will get while there. I just hate for him to be away from his brother. Actually, I hate he has to go through any of this at all, but this will help him so I am glad he is having it done now. We will all just be a nervous wreck until he is safe back next to Cooper.

As for Cooper, he had a pretty quit day yesterday. His blood pressure was up and he was off one of his meds for blood pressure. This morning's report was that they were doing about the same, so we'll take it. I'll keep everyone posted on Carson and the surgery. Please say a little extra prayer for him during the day tomorrow. They tell us it is a routine procedure, but when it is your 2 pound kid nothing is just routine.

We will say extra prayers for Carson tonight. I know he will be in good hands. :)
I am glad to hear the Cooper is coming off some of his meds. Progress may be slow, but it's definitely being made and that's good to hear.
Love and Prayers,
Bridget

The boys are becoming quite well known in the School of Journalism at Kent State. I'm asked about their progress on a regular basis. I'm sure you wouldn't be suprised by the number of people pulling for them, but you can add about 40 more from Northeast Ohio. One of my colleagues, the former editor of the Beacon Journal, is the mother of twin girls who were premature. She's following the boys' progress closely and recognizes various developments. Her girls are now 13 and both play soccer -- not that I think Carson or Cooper will play anything but baseball and football. Take care. Love, Tim and Jane
