August 13th

Please send good thoughts Cooper's way. He had a rough night with his oxygen levels and had to be switched to some new meds and a different type of ventilator. We knew along with good comes bad days but it doesn't make it any easier to hear. Thank you, everyone.

I know you do not know me, but I think you know my mom, Claudia Walters. Anyway, I was born 9 weeks early, and weighed 2.5 pounds. I am now a very healthy 26 year old, and even though I had breathing/lung problems early, I am fine now. You, Carson, and Cooper will be in my prayers.

Sweetest babies ever! It takes a lot to make a diaper cute, but those preemie diapers pull it off. Keep the updates coming - hope to see those boys at home ASAP!

We are thinking of you and praying
for Carson and Cooper. I know
how hard this is for you but
hopefully soon just a memory
when you take the boys home.
They are beautiful! They are
very lucky to have you for
parents and Carol and Greg for
Grandparents.

Hi Lauren,

My Mom forwarded me your blog tonight and I am sitting here in tears reading it. First, I can't believe you are old enough to be a Mom....I don't even want to think about how old that makes me. I also want to welcome you to the "twins club". I could tell you a thousand precious stories about my girls and how strongly they are bonded. They are so much fun and it just keeps getting better and better. Unfortunately, it looks like you've also joined the "parents of fragile children" club and that one is not so much fun. This past year with Madeline has been the hardest of my life. I'm here to tell you though that you WILL make it. There will be days when you think you don't have the strength to do it BUT you will dig deep and find it. Your boys will get their strength from their parents...and I know they've got that strong Smith blood pumping through their veins. My advice to you is to come to your blog and vent....pour your heart out. It's very cathartic. I'm currently making mine into a book for Maeline...some light reading for her when she becomes a mouthy teenager. LOL! Please know that you ALL are in my family's prayers. Your boys are beautiful and you did such a great job carrying them.

Love,

Caroline (Hawn) Letts

Lauren,Andrew,Carson,Cooper and Bo. What a beautiful family. They babies are precious. You know BIG things come in small packages! You are in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated with Carson and Coopers progress. They sound like they are "trucking" along just fine. Brian and I went through the same thing 2 1/2 years ago with Ross who is your typical 2 year old. He is doing just fine. He was not as early, he was born at 29-30 weeks. And I know this is very anxious time for everyone but each day gets better. If you all need anything or would like to talk to Brian and I about what we went through feel free to call or email anytime. 678-482-5221 or email hemerson@bellsouth.net. I had a lot of anxiety problems afterwards and wished I would have had someone to talk with that went through a similiar experience. Keep us posted.
Love, Hope,Brian and Ross, I will try and send you a picture of Ross.
